Phenomenal. Two Napa Valley wine pioneers on one stock. Inc. December 4, 1872. Certificate number ONE, issued to company president Charles Krug on August 8th, 1874 in St. Helena. Signed by Krug as president and secretary Jacob Beringer. Pen cancelled. Black border and print, vignette of grapes (top center) and allegorical woman (left). No printer listed. 5.5 x 9.75" Toning, very nice. The Napa Valley Wine Company was formed by Krug in 1872. It was renamed Napa & Sonoma Wine Company in 1874 after a fire destroyed the first winery. Beringer, after serving as secretary for this company, went on to form the Beringer Vineyards at St. Helena in 1876 with his brother Frederick.
