Fantastic piece that was passed down in the family of the consignor. Antique Early 19th Century French Napoleon Imperial Sevres Porcelain Box made De la Courtvill--Made in France. This is a beautiful example of French gilt doré bronze work, with filigree and striking ornamentation. The painting on the lid is a bit unusual because trinket boxes from this period most often featured noble and royal ladies. Two more handpainted images, landscapes on front and back sides. It dates from the later period of Napoleon. The extensive design work of the piece give it a jewel-like quality. 8-sided, 4" h x 11" l x 7.5" w. Dark red porcelain ’’Sèvres’’ like box decorated with gildings, coat of arms, of the crowned “N”, eagles and of the “N” surrounded with laurel. On the lid Napoleon on horseback with troops.
