Narrative of the Travels and Adventurers of Monsieur Violet in California, Sonora, and Western Texas written by Captain Marryat, C.B. Published by Harper & Brothers in 1843, with a price of One Schilling. Original version showing a lot of wear on pages and foxing. Marryat lived from 1792 until 1848. When the book was first published in London, there were doubts about some of Marryat's stories. Others who had been in west Texas at the same time accused Marryat of making up stories and not telling the truth. Other authors pointed out passages and paragraphs that were word for word lifted from other publications. Still, this is an interesting historical piece.
