Lists steamers for the company (bottom left): E.G. Ragon, J.P. Drouillard, Alex Perry, and B.S. Rhea. Pass no. 516, issued for 1892 to We Parson, president of the B&P Steamship Company, Signed by president Ryman. Unusual design with vignette of curtain with floral design. Printed on cardstock by Brandon, Nashville. Some wear on reverse. According to an 1894 ad for the company, the boats left Nashville and at Paducah had connections for boats on the Upper Ohio River. At Cairo, connections were available for Anchor Line steamers to St. Louis, Memphis, Vicksburg, and New Orleans. Packet boats were medium-sized boats designed for domestic mail, passenger, and freight transportation in European countries and in North American rivers and canals, some of them steam driven.
