Lot of 3 incl. Rice autograph. Nat. Goodwin was a comedian-actor. He and his theatrical company came to Goldfield for a performance at the Hippondrome in June 1907. Goodwin and Dan Edwards went to George Graham Rice for advice on mining investments. Rice gave them good advice on shorting Goldfield Cons. stock and so Edwards and Goodwin asked Rice to go into business with them. They formed the Nat C. Goodwin & Company. Rice went to the growing camp of Rawhide and used his position as editor of the Nevada Mining News to promote the camp. But Rice is best known for being a scam artist. He worked his promotional scams in Goldfield, Bullfrog, Rawhide, Manhattan and Ely. He would eventually spend time in jail for his fraudulent mining activities. He wrote the book "My Adventures with your Money"while in prison. 1) National Leasing Company stock certificate No. B4871 issued to G.G. Rice in 1918 and signed by Rice on the reverse. Not cancelled.
