An 1840 letter signed by Nathan Boone, youngest son of famed frontiersman and folk hero Daniel Boone, known for his early settlement of Kentucky and service as a militia officer during the Revolutionary War. Nathan Boone himself served in the War of 1812 as a captain and founding member of the 1st United States Regiment of Dragoons, and would later go on to be a major figure in the Black Hawk War. The letter itself was originally sent with receipts for clothing, and is signed by Nathan with both his name and rank. [
