Originally built for J. T. Laughlin Estate Luke, MD. We found record in the Mineral Daily News, published in Keyser, West Virginia from 1912-1928 that J.T. Laughlin President of the Citizens National Bank of Westernport. From Find A Grave website: "Mr. Joseph T. Laughlin, a prominent citizen of the Tri-Towns, died at his beautiful home in Luke Wednesday morning 11 February 1914, at 1:40 o'clock, of typhoid fever, after an illness of only 12 days, aged 48 years." Laughlin operated more than one mercantile business in Maryland and Virginia, and then owned a general merchandise business in Luke. According to his obituary published on Find-A-Grave, "In 1901 he organized and became president of the Citizens National Bank which position he held until his death. He was a member of the Frostburg lodge, B. P. O. Elks, the Catholic Benevolent Legion of Cumberland. Twice he was nominated for office on the Democrat ticket in Allegany County." This register was ordered by J.T. Laughlin's Estate after his death, possibly by one of his 6 children, who presumably continued to run his business after he passed. [
