Uncancelled stock, no. 4871 issued to G. G. Rice, 100 shares, signed by G.G. Rice signature on reverse. Brown on crème paper. The townsite was about 60 miles north of Winnemucca. It was known as having the richest gold ore found in the state of Nevada at one time, as much as $30 per pound of ore. Initial discoveries were made in 1907 and by 1908, leases had been drawn up based on a sliding scale of royalty payments. By 1912, the town had a number of merchants including stores, saloons, a hotel, and a post office. That year, two men stole sacks of ore from a mine shaft, and the mine owners installed a searchlight and hired round-the-clock security. Later that year the mine owners brought suit against two neighboring mines for trespassing on the property. G.G. Rice was an infamous stock promoter who went to prison for his questionable trading practices. He wrote a book there titled Adventures with Your Money. He returned to stock trading after his release but the authorities were soon back on his trail.
