Here is a real special item, because of the story. It is a hand colored lithograph taken from a drawing room companion. ( These were books, that people read, that kept them company in the drawing rooms of Early America. It is a picture of a Native American woman and underneath it reads:" Mu-neek-ee-sunk-to-ka.( That means" The Mink') A Mandan Girl ". The Mandan, self named Numakiki, were North American Plains Indians. They lived in semi permanent villages along the Missouri River, in what is now North Dakota. This lithograph was taken from an early George Catlin painting. He was an American Painter, and the first white man to travel in the 1830's, to depict the Americans Indians, in their native lands. 15" tall x 12" wide. Framed and matted, with wire, and ready to be hung.Perfect condition, and a very rare and early item. Needs to be hung in a place of importance...you decide. (RH).
