An exceptional, display quality, native silver specimen featuring stout, wire silver on matrix from the Hongda Mine. The wires of silver are bright and have striated surfaces. The surface patina is a beautiful silvery-brown. The Hongda Mining Company is engaged in the extraction of ore minerals at this mine including silver, manganese and silver related species such as acanthite. The ore minerals are processed mostly for domestic consumption. Approximately 10 years ago, wire silver specimens with associated acanthite crystals began to be recovered from the Hongda mine and were released to the worldwide mineral market.
