From 1908-1911, William M. Pennington and Lisle Updike operated
the Pen-Dike Studio in Durango, Colorado. Pennington's main focus
was studio portraiture while Updike took mostly landscape photographs.
Pennington worked photographing Navajos in and around Shiprock, New
Mexico. This photograph of a pensive native American is in a weathered 8 x 10 inch frame, with Pennington's name lower right corner.
