Wonderful collection of Nevada printing history. Set of 145 pieces. This wood type set was originally used by the Nevada Appeal in Carson City for their headlines when the newspaper was printed by letterpress in the early part of the 20th century. In addition to its historical value, it contains a font type with caps, lower case, numbers, punctuation, and ligatures. The face is French Clarendon Condensed, 6 1/2" in length (40 line in printer's measure). This type and all the other letterpress equipment was retired when the Nevada Appeal went to offset printing in March 1961. Comes with a sample showing how a headline would look.City: Carson CityCounty: OrmsbyState: NVDate: c.1920s
