An 1862 map shows it half way down Seven Mile Canyon. It is briefly mentioned in an 1866 Territorial Enterprise. That is all. [Mines and Mills of the Comstock Region Western Nevada by Ansari] 2) 1867 Assay Report by the Savage Mill. Numbers 94 through 101. For mines like the Empire Shaft, Central, island, Manhattan, Santiago, Mariposa and Savage (these are written in pencil).The Manhattan looked best! 3) 1868 Manhattan Silver Mining Company of Austin. Assay report for Henry Beadle. Beadle is not listed in the 1866 Austin Directory. 4) Whitney & Company 1866 receipt for the Savage Mine. 5) California State Telegraph Company 1866 Austin telegraph.
