A pair of American newspapers: an 1824 issue of the National Gazette and Literary Register and the 1865 Valentine's Day issue of Harper's Weekly.

1) The 1865 Harper's Weekly is of extreme importance for Nevada historians. The cover illustration depicts the House of Representatives moments after the delegate from the new State of Nevada had cast the deciding vote giving the two-thirds majority to passage of the Anti-Slavery amendment to the U.S. Constitution, and the house was in an uproar of approval. The roll call was alphabetical, and there was one delegate yet to vote, but Nevada's Vote was the clincher. The Harper's Weekly issue, which was released two months before Lincoln's murder, also contains a caricature of the president as well as news of a hanging.

2)The National Gazette (edited by William Fry) describes the capture of pirates and a summary of congressional sessions. Both generally in good condition.
