1881. Light strike but very readable. Letter is from George Crum who owned a ranch in Crum Canyon. The letter is difficult to read but seems to be about a custom mill piece - hence he was also a miner. The letterhead states 'Freight and Ticket Office'. To me this indicates that George Crum was the station manager at Lewis at this time. Although the route to Lewis was officially called the Battle Mountain and Lewis railroad, it was really an extension of the Nevada Central Railway and, hence, the NCRy letterhead. This extension was completed one month before this letter was sent. Crum Canyon was very close to Lewis and George Crum could have easily been in charge of ticketing and freight. Includes history of the Nevada Central Railway. Includes a letter size broadside of 1899 change in prices Also information on George Crum and Crum Canyon. City:Battle Mountain, Lander Co. State:Nevada Date:1881
