Lot of (2) Nevada historical books, the very famous "Roughing It" by Mark Twain (aka Samuel L. Clemens) and "The Sazarac Lying Club" by Fred H. Hart. Both hard cover novels are in very good condition, exhibiting minor spine and corner issues only. The "Roughing It" novel is fully illustrated, the index listing (300) illustrations. "A Miner's Dream" and "Camping in the Snow" are in the first pages of this 570 page book. Published by the Hartford American Publishing Company in 1873. Please note Mr. Clemens was also in Montana, Colorado, Utah, and Nevada during the memories of this book. The "Sazarac Lying Club" was published by Henry Keller & Co. of San Francisco in 1878. Fred H. Hart was editor of the Austin (Nevada) Reveille. The Introductory page extolls the construction and scientific triumph of a good, square, solid lie. Lying should be considered as an accomplishment per the author. No real TOC to be found, the book dives right in with its brand of stories. Both books are notably entertaining. Rare finds for these 1870's novels. A worthy addition to the collector's library.
