Candelaria was most active in the 1870s-1880s. The Nevada Hotel fits right in this period. Their first newspaper ad was published in January, 1886, managed at one time by M. T. Plameraz. About July, 1902, the hotel was sold to John Nelson, who ran it until 1905, when all news of the hotel disappears. This is probably the source of the token. Only one saloon was left in Candelaria by 1917 (J.O. Benelli). The site of the main street is still present along with stone ruins, all next to one of the largest open pit silver mines in the USA, now closed. Pop in 1990: 2. ex rare.
