Lot of 5. Nevada Metallurgical Works. CA Luckhardt, manager. No. 23 Stevenson Street. Established 1869. "Assaying In All Its Branches. Working Tests a Specialty. Silver Calculated at Old Standard $1.2929 Per Ounce." Luckhardt's company was established in 1869 with successive partners Eugene N. Riotte during the 1870's, and later Huhn (as indicated on the business card). Prior to 1869, he was in the employ of William Sharon for at least three years on the Comstock privately evaluating mines and mills for Sharon and the Bank of California's loans and investments. He supplied testimony to that role in Sutro's lawsuit against the Bank and its supports. He was also involved in a fraudulent mining stock concerning The South Pacific Mining Company in 1881-3. (Ref.
