1) Nevada Freehold Properties Trust Bond--British Scam. Mining scams were not uncommon in Nevada, but this scam is for woodland properties in Nevada by an English firm. They obviously did not visit the state and notice all of the desert! Certificate of Two Pounds (British), no, 23751. Attached is a Coupon of Reversion. 33 coupons attached. Folds, creases, rough edges. The company was formed in 1869 and was seeking investments for the purchase of 22 silver mining properties and 2 pine woodlands in Nevada. Chairman was James Tobin, with Major-General Mason doing the survey in Nevada. Certificates were issued at 12.5% for 17 years. By 1874, the company had gone belly-up.
