Extremely rare. This proof is the second stage in creating a stock for this company. (The earlier version is also in this sale).Has only one pencil notation to change phrasing to "Certify That." Also red pencil date of March 5th, 1881. Reverse has green pencil notation. Printed ABN. Fabulous vignette of surveyors, Native Americans, and a railroad crossing a bridge. 7 x 15" with attached stub. Creases, folds, hole punches. The Nevada and Oregon was incorporated on June 5, 1880. Ran from Reno, Nevada, then northwest to the California state line near present-day Hallelujah Junction before reaching Oneida, California in 1882. Headquartered at Reno, Nevada, it was sold to the New York investors the Moran Brothers at foreclosure in 1884. In 1893 the Moran Brothers sold the railroad and it was reorganized as the Nevada-California-Oregon Railway.
