1) Death Knell for the Battle Mountain & Lewis Railroad: 1887 official document providing for the sale of the Battle Mountain & Lewis RR by the Lander County sheriff for back taxes for this very short line even by Nevada short line standards. 2) Warren Williams and the Southern Pacific. Williams was key to getting the spur track to Fallon as shown by this bill to the SP. 3) Early 1871 Central Pacific Expense Bill and Palisade Fast Freight Billhead: Lot of two: November 18, 1871 CPRR bill for mining equipment to [and here is where it gets interesting] Mr. 'A' [inside a curved box], over 'P'. Also a Palisade Fast Freight Line billhead. Dated November 20, 1871 - two days after the CPRR bill. Addressed to 'A' [inside a curved box]. Geo. Atwood, Eberhardt. 4) Nevada vs CPRR: In 1859 the Central Pacific Railroad changed the face of Nevada forever. The state of Nevada and the United States of America had given this railroad a great deal of importance and power to build the line. This made men a few men very powerful and, I might add, very, very rich. In the 1870’s Nevada took an economic turn for the worse. But the railroad kept on showing unbelievable profits each month. The people of Nevada and the local governments decided it was time that the railroad pay their fair share! This is an official notice to the Central Pacific Railroad from the County of Lander for the taxes owed as posted by Sheriff B. C. Thomas. Also a newspaper delinquent tax notice that was posted from April 5, 1880 to May 1st. Historical background information included! State: City: Date: HWAC# 99480
