Unique to Nevada as it was made of crockery and white glaze. Unique - period - as it is larger than the only other known specimen that was used in the Holabird Bottle Book and this one is in better condition. The Nevada Short Line was the brain child of A. A. Codd (as the name on this bottle). It ran from 1913 – 1918. It was truly a short line with a short life. If ran from the Southern Pacific station at Oreana to Rochester and Rochester. Codd and his investors realized that they had to get to the mines themselves up a 6% grade to Lower Rochester. In January of 1915 the line was completed to Lower Rochester. This, however, has a date of December 1914, It was probably the original completion date, and this was a souvenir! “Compliments of A. A. Codd / Nevada Short Line / Silver Belt Route / [vignette of steam train] / Xmas 1914 / Lower Rochester Nevada. This is only the second specimen known!!! Perfect for the for the bottle collector, railroading advocate, or anyone who want a trophy piece for their Nevada room.
