Lot of 3 autographs for figures involved in the process of Nevada becoming a state. 1) U.S. Senator James R. Doolitle (Wisconsion). He introduced the bill enabling Nevada to become a state on Feb. 8, 1864. It passed both houses and Lincoln signed into law on March 21st, 1864. Clipped signature from album, c. 1860s. 4 x 5.5" 2) William Pennington, New Jersey, Speaker of the House for the 36th Congress, 1860-61. Autograph dated Feb. 23rd, 1861. Pennington signed the act establishing Nevada Territory. 8.25 x 5" 3) State Controllers Warrant issued to and signed by Frank Bell. Bell telegraphed the constitution of Nevada to President Lincoln in 1864. The telegram was 6,543 words and cost $4,303.27. Bell also served as acting governor of Nevada from Sept. 1, 1890 to Dec. 31st, 1890. 5.5 x 10.25" Comes with background information including a miniature repro of the act establishing Nevada Territory.
