Inc. in New Jersey. Low cert. number 9, issued for one share to Harry F. Miller, treasurer, on Feb. 17th, 1908. Signed by Thomas Edison as president and Miller as treasurer. Punch cancelled signatures. Black border, green background with eagle vignette, handwritten company title. The back indicates the stock was transferred in 1925 to Thomas Edison, Incorporated. Folds, two revenue stamps on the reverse. 8.25 x 10" This company was incorporated in New Jersey on April 25, 1903, to obtain and hold the phonograph-related patents of Edison and other inventors. In 1911, the company's property rights were transferred to Thomas A. Edison, Inc., in exchange for stock in that corporation. The company was officially dissolved on December 11, 1931. Thomas Edison (1847-1931) is often thought of as "America's greatest inventor." He developed many devices related to electric power generation, mass communication, sound recording, and motion pictures, including the phonograph, the motion picture camera, and early versions of the electric light bulb.
