A very interesting collection of printed ephemera regarding the New Orleans Mint.

1838 New Orleans banks proceedings, great publication discussing the New Orleans banks funded by US Bank of Pennsylvania, and the vote to resume specie payments. Another move was made to include cotton and tobacco as specie, since New Orleans exported more than 50% of all US exports the prior year. The move was unprecedented, and there is no other document in this collection following up on Congress' answer, which was negative. No mention is made of the new Mint at New Orleans.
1839 Treasury Dept statement on operations of the Mint for 1838, including Charlotte Mint (should have been with the Charlotte Collection)
1840 Presidential Mint report on 1839 Mint production.,
1842 Newark Daily Advertiser page 2 mention of New Orleans coinage,
1856 Secty of Treasury Notice to increase appropriations for New Orleans mint.
1870 Secretary of the Treasury report on the condition of the New Orleans Mint,
1883 certificate of deposit for $500 silver dollars sent by the Southern Express Co. to Mississippi.
