Lot of 2; one issued and one unissued. Slug Gulch District, El Dorado County (printed on either side of vignette). Dateline Volcano. Inc. May 29th, 1863. No. 200, issued for 1 share to Isaac Bloch on Oct. 22nd, 1863. Signed by president J. McKnight and secretary Otto Walther. Not cancelled. Ornate border and black print, light green background. Three vignettes: soldier on horse (top center), paddle steamer (bottom center) and mine winch (left side). Printed by H.S. Crocker & Co., Sacramento. One 25 cent adhesive revenue stamp attached at lower left. Also a pen notation from the secretary in pink ink. 5 x 10.25" Trimmed tight on left border. Folds. Plus one unissued of the same design. Not in Filer. Browne (1868) mentions that at Slug Gulch a shaft was sunk through solid limestone. Specimens from the New Sigel Mine were sent to the California State Agricultural Fair in 1863. It was noted that the specimens were from the surface to a depth of 45 ft. The claim is 7,200 ft. long.
