Cert. #66, issued in 1866 to Wm. F. Aldrich for 25 shares. Signed by Jno. J. Osborn as secretary and president (illeg). Two great mining vignettes that we haven't seen before. Miners at left working different levels of the shaft, and hauling up ore at the center. Grass Valley, California printed at the bottom. Grass Valley was one of California's early gold rush towns with gold discovered in 1848. In the next six years, the placers in Boston Ravine yielded $4 million. The annual production at Grass Valley peaked at around $5 million (Gudde). Large size certificate is endorsed at the bottom by Aldrich. Black print on white. Extra folds. Uncancelled. Rare.
