Lot of two different issued certificates. 1) No. 52, issued for 100 shares to IER Birch on Sept. 9th, 1812. Signed by the president . Not cancelled. 5 x 7" Some staining. 2) No. 345, also issued to Birch, for 50 shares on Jan. 31st, 1814. Signed by cashier David Greene. Not cancelled. 4 x 6.5" Folds, some discoloration. This company was the early predecessor to Manufacturers Hanover Trust. Formed in 1812, the New York Manufacturing Company’s charter included the authorization to conduct banking activities, even though it was technically a textile company.
