A brass padlock from the New York, New Haven, and Hartford Railroad Company. This was New England's most prominent railroad through the early 1900s, holding a near-monopoly on rail transportation in the area. The lock bears the logo of the railroad as well as the text 'SIGNAL / DEPT.' The reverse side shows the logo of Yale & Towne Manufacturing Company, which produced it. The shackle is stamped with 'MADE IN USA.' The lock appears to be in working condition with a movable shackle. No key is included.
