John Mason, one of company's founders and second president from 1831-1839 was a wealthy banker and president of Chemical Bank ("father of Chemical Bank") was among the largest landowners in New York City who owned big area of what is now Midtown Manhattan. Served as New York and Harlem Rail Road’s second president. William Henry Vanderbilt who signed the stock as president of the New York and Harlem Rail Road Company was the son of "Commodore" Cornelius Vanderbilt the American business magnate and philanthropist.
