Joe McGinnity autograph on Newark Baseball & Amusement Co, complimentary pass "1910 season" in pencil at the bottom. The pencil signature easily matches the printed signature below.
Curiously, the Wikipedia lengthy biography on McGinnity does not mention his involvement as president and part owner in the Newark Baseball and Amusement Co. club.
McGinnity (1871-1929) was one of the greatest pitchers in all of professional baseball history. He won 246 games with a 2.66 ERA over a long career with several clubs including the New York Giants. He had seven twenty win seasons and two thirty win seasons.
McGinnity became president of the New Jersey Club in 1910, and remained so until 1912. George Sullivan was elected president in 1912, and the next year, Charlie Ebbets Jr was elected president. A number of news articles discuss various player transactions and possible transactions. A good interview can be found in the Buffalo Times of May 5, 1912.
Today, some baseball collectors want third party verification. Here, McGinnity autographs are exceptionally rare and thus difficult to compare. I'd suggest a walk into the New jersey Historical Society and start the process there. While this document looks, feels, and "smells" original, we are not a third party authentication service.
