1) Granite. Photo taken on July 4, 1902 (date near front horses legs) in the snow. That's right, July 4th snow! Photo measures 6.5 x 8.5". Granite lies three miles east of the town of Philipsburg. Granite thrived as a silver mining town in the 1890s and is now completely deserted. 2) Mansfield. 1901 photograph. Shows overview of small Montana community. Photo measures 4.5 x 6.5". 3) Garnet. Back says "Tom taken with friends at Garnet. Photo measures 3.5 x 5". Includes ladies in the background and dogs up front? There was a time, a hundred years ago, that Garnet was a thriving town, filled with gold miners and their families. Working hard to carve out a community in the heart of the Garnet Mountains. In 1898, somewhere around 1,000 people called Garnet their home. Today it is a well preserved ghost town. City: State:Montana Date:c1901
