VERY EARLY Number 6 for 250 shares to George Herbert Brown. Signed by president William Morris Davis and treasurer Henry C. Davis. 1882. This may be the George Herbert Brown who wrote "The Function of Time in the Vitrification of Clays" in 1913. Extra fine. One underground mining vignette and a country scene with a steam train, riverboat, mill site, wagon, etc. Uncancelled. This company may have operated the North Carolina Mine, which was primarily a copper producer in Guilford County, near Greensboro. The ore was found along faults in chutes up to 13 feet in width. In 1882 they were also working the old Field Shaft and Randolph Shaft. In 1885 a meeting was held on August 14th to discuss sale of this company.
