Lot of five. 1) Number 4471 issued to David J Whiteford for 10 shares. Signed by secretary CN Fox, treasurer OF Sampson and president WH Kimball. Large vignette of an eagle. 2) 4884 issued to DJ Whiteford. 3) 4862 issued to DJ Whiteford. This stock has a green background. 4) 4471 issued to Whiteford. Also in green. 5) 1893 letterhead. Addressed to Whiteford about stocks he has purchased and transferred. Assuredly some (or all) of the stocks in this lot. All stocks are uncancelled and in very nice condition. Two vertical folds on each. This company had a furnace built in 1890 for the production of pig iron. It replaced the defunct and mis-managed Georgia-Alabama Investment and Development Company. [Engineering and Mining Journal, Volume 56] This new company didn't seem to fair much better. From 1893 to 1897 there didn't seem to be any production. with these two companies, Tallapoosa's attempts as a manufacturing center seemed to have died.
