Lot of 14 revenue-imprinted Bank of California checks for the North Pacific Transportation Company. All issued in 1871 and signed by CJ Brenham as secretary, who served as SF mayor during the Gold Rush (1851 and then 1852-53) and later partnered with famous Western expressman Ben Holliday. Two true color revenue varieties are represented here, both RN-C. All checks have vignette at left of ship at sea. The North Pacific Transportation Company was a steamship company formed by Ben Holliday.
