Rare. No. 121, issued for one share to Angela Morrison in San Jose in 1891. Signed by president Jacob Rich and secretary EM Rosenthal. Not cancelled. 5.5 x 9.75" Allegorical vignette. Jacob Rich opened a horsecar line in 1877 (South East Side Horse RR) when was merged into the North Side. In 1878, he built a parallel line on Santa Clara Street that was indirect competition to Samuel Bishop's line. In 1893, Bishop died and Rich took over the line. Rich and Rosenthal petitioned the city to electrify the line in 1891 and 17 miles were done by 1893. Rich was also director of the San Jose Savings Bank and San Jose Library Association. Rosenthal was a lawyer and was later elected as a judge in 1898.
