Lot of two choice Montana items. Passage from Sioux City, Iowa to Ft. Benton, Montana. A Missouri River riverboat company. 1) No. 204, issued to G.H. Griggs, general superintendent of R & DM Railroad. Signed by C.K. Peck as secretary. Printed on cardstock. Some soiling. 2) Unissued 1871 pass, different style, also signed by Peck. Reverse lists steamers of the company: Nellie Peck, Esperanza, Ida Rees No. 2, E.H. Durfee. Far West, and Viola Belle. Peck, along with Edgar H. Durfee, operated as Indian traders in Leavenworth, Kansas, Ft. Union, Montana and other places along the Missouri River in the 1860s and 1870s. Fort Peck, Montana is named for him. The Northwestern Transportation Company had Durfee as president, Peck as secretary, and S.B. Coulson as general agent. This pass would go great with your Durfee & Peck territorial token!
