No. 198, issued for 1873 to W.H. Hurlburt, agent for B & M .R. Railroad. Signed by C.C. Huntley. Background is filled by a stagecoach vignette. Reverse lists Parker, Huntley & Barlow as proprietors. Some soiling. This company was engaged in transporting mails and passengers on routes in Oregon and in the territories of Utah, Idaho, and Washington. Huntley owned the influential Overland Mail Company in Montana, the biggest competitor to Wells Fargo. In 1867, he sold his Montana business to Wells Fargo after what was known as the "Grand Consolidation of 1866." He was also involved with the Oregon & California Stage Company.
