Singer Sewing Machine Company Model 15CH with Treadle. This is a "vintage reproduction." The original Singer Model 15 was designed in 1879 and introduced in 1881 and it has been in production somewhere in the world to this day, making it a great machine to collect and use because you can still get parts. Class 15 machine uses large bobbins. From the mid 1970’s what are often referred to as ‘Nostalgia’ model 15’s were made in Taiwan and China. Singer was broken up and sold off in 1987, at which time a Chinese company got rights to the name and the "Nostalgia" machines were manufactured with the Singer name but limited to the popular class 15 model. The decals read 'The Singer Sewing Machine Company' instead of 'The Singer Manufacturing Company'.
Made in the same design as original Singer Class 15 machines with the traditional black cast iron bodies and with the RAF or Sphinx decals etc. as well as the old style treadle table. 15CH machines are functional, working machines, that are collectible "repros" and limited in quantity. They are nearly identical to the originals with subtle differences: The cabinet is a veneer; the inside of the drawers is particle board/press-board with laminate drawer bottoms. The underside of the machine bed says "Singer / Made in China / 15CH". Illegible numbers are stamped on the front under the machine, where the Singer serial number is found. Registration tag says "NO Reg. 005" Not tested but in like-new condition; kept in storage for many years. Very attractive, impeccable condition.
