A pair of business cards advertising California businesses dealing in novelties and curios, c.1890-1910. One business advertised, the Long Beach Curio Shop, specializes in the sale of Native American goods and specifically promotes its Swastika jewelry, with an ink print of a Swastika and a description of the symbol's history on the card's reverse side. (Alarming, until you check the date!) The other card advertises E. Bloch Mercantile Company, a San Francisco business dealing in Native American and foreign novelties, and features a high quality photograph of an uncannily lifelike statue by Japanese artist Hananuma Masakichi.
