Pass No. S24962, issued to Harry O. Marler and party (Pacific Electric Railway, Los Angeles). Printed signature of "Big Herbert" (the mule). Countersigned by Fred A. Clegg as president. Printed on blue cardstock with come toning. This small railway was formed by WWI veteran Ed Tobin, who moved to Los Angeles and then the Alpine Tavern at the foot of Mount Lowe for health reasons. Realizing he needed more than his government pension, Tobin decided to construct a small scenic railway out to Morning Glory Point, much to the anger of Pacific Electric. Service started in 1920 with the help of Big Herbert the mule. Tobin eventually sold the OM&M Railway to F. A. Clegg, who continued operation until 1935, just before the demise of the Tavern and the Mount Lowe Incline Railway. (Prag Collection) City: Mount Lowe State: California, Date: Inventory# 39444
