The Key System was a privately owned mass transit system that operated in and around the Oakland, California, area between 1903 and 1960. its origin was in the consolidation of several smaller transportation companies. The Key Route Inn was large hotel owned by the same real estate syndicate that owned the Key System. The Inn was a stop on the Key Route Transit System with an entrance from the tracks directly into the lobby of the Inn. This group of postcards captures buildings, depot, stations, railways, and boats of the Key System that would have been familiar to passengers on the east side of San Francisco Bay. The lot also includes tickets and and passes from the Key System. There are 36 color, 6 amber, and 11 B&W postcards, along with 10 sets of ephemera such as tickets and passes.
