Reese River Mining District, Lander Co., N.T. (printed at top center). Occidental Ledge (printed under title). Incorporated in Nevada Territory, April 10, 1863. Low number 8, issued for 25 shares to Chas. Land on April 23, 1863 in Virginia (City), N. T. Signed by I. G. Messer as president and Lewis Goodwin as secretary. Not cancelled. Black border and print, yellow/green background, allegorical vignette. Printed by Enterprise Print. Occidental underprint. 25 cent revenue adhesive stamp attached on the reverse; pen cancelled. Folds, light soiling. Overall, very nice! Rare Reese River stock formed by Comstock mining men. May have actually been in the Big Canyon Mining District. Charles Land was probably owner of the little-known Land Quartz Mill in Sevenmile Canyon. There was a L. Goodwin listed as working at the Jones' Lumber Yard in Virginia City. Research on Land and the Occidental.
