Massive Oklahoma oil stock collection of over 100 certificates including 8 issued from 1900-1909. Oil was discovered in Oklahoma in 1859, near Salina, Mayes County. Between 1907 and 1930, Oklahoma and California traded back and forth as the largest oil producing state in the country. In 1927, production was 762,000 bbl per day. The first commercial well in the state was the Nellie Johnstone in 1896, located near Bartlesville. This is where the Dewey field is located. There are 26 major oil fields in the state. There is too much to mention in this lot, but a few highlights include a couple issued or incorporated in Oklahoma, Indian Territory, one from Uinita and one from Muskogee, ten varieties from Uncle Sam Oil Company including stocks and bonds, a nice bond certificate dated 1918 from Norman Oil, two from Okmulgee Producing & Refining engraved by New York Bank Note and an engraved Invader Oil from ABN. Another neat one is a common stock from Black Gold Petroleum Company with the title and logo in gold gilt. The oil stock collector will appreciate this lot. In average to better condition. Please inspect this lot.
