THE OLD KENTUCKY/LIQUOR HOUSE/CRIPPLE CREEK/COLO. On the reverse the stenciling reads : WHEN EMPTY RETURN TO/OLD KENTUCKY LIQUOR HOUSE. 1/2 gallon jug. This is an unlisted variant of Preble ( J 36). There is a picture of this jug in Preble's book: "IMPRESSED IN TIME - COLORADO BEVERAGE BOTTLES, JUGS & ETC 1859-1915, on page 200. It is listed as "the most attractive advertising jug" from this company. Brown glaze on top, white glaze on the bottom. Sloped shoulders and stands 7 1/2" tall. No damage on this jug. Mint condition.
