Olive, Ben Franklin, Lady Franklin, and Lady Washington Ledges, Russian River District, Sonoma County (printed at left). Inc. Fenruary 10, 1864. Dateline Windsor, Sonoma Co., Cal., March 5th, 1864. No. 55, issued to A.C. Bledsoe for 20 shares. Signed by president Thompson and secretary AJ Meathersead(?). Not cancelled. Black border and print, small eagle vignette. Printed by Sonoma Democrat print. One 25 cent adhesive IR stamp attached on the left. Folds with tape repairs, other nicks and light wear. 4 x 9" A July 9th, 1864 Sonoma Democrat article reports the mine is situated on the west side of the Russian River, 6 miles from Windsor. A shaft is currently 55 feet deep, with the plan to sink it to 300 ft. and connect with a tunnel. The ledge is 6 ft. thick, containing green carbonate and concentrated gray copper, "of exceeding richness." Ken Prag Collection
