Issued to Superintendent who was killed in a bar fight. Printed by the Gold Hill News Print with rare Loomis Vignette. His vignettes are usually only seen on Towne & Bacon or San Francisco prints. American Flat district, Storey County, N.T. (printed top and bottom at left). Incorporated November 20, 1863. #141 for four shares to Thompson on February 4, 1864 in Gold Hill. Signed by president William Arrington and secretary George Swenson. Not cancelled. Black border and print. A nice Loomis vignette of a prospector getting help from a Native American (top center) and allegorical woman (bottom left). 25 cent US revenue stamp attached at upper left. Heavy folds, edge stains. The original Oneoto was located in the fall of 1860. Throughout 1864 the Oneoto was in the news with great hope. A poor ledge and excess water doomed the mine. Secretary Swenson was also the superintendent of the Michigan Mine in Gold Hill. President Arrington was a stockbroker and one of several incorporators of the Carson & Truckee Railroad from Virginia City to the Truckee River; pre V&T. Notes on Thompson (died in a bar fight at the Cheer Bar), Swenson, Arrington and the Oneoto Mining Company.
