Issued 1887, # 332. Ophir is a very common mine name. In addition to the famous mine on the Comstock, there was an Ophir mine in Cripple Creek although this certificate is too early. Possibly Leadville (there is an "Ophir Cons. Mining & Smelting Co." in the 1882 directory, but different corporate officers). There is an Ophir Mine in Ouray and an Ophir Gold Mining Co. in Gilpin County. There is also Ophir, Colorado located in San Miguel County. This exact company could not be located, although there was a Luther J. Ingersoll who was a prominent physician in Denver.
