This is an ore sampling from the Consolidated California and Virginia Mining Co. mining company; the largest producer of gold in the Comstock District. The two mines consolidated in the 1880's. This assay report is dated 1894 deposited by R.P. Keating of the Savage Mine; a stamp battery sampling that produced gold at $14.00 per ton and silver at $2.00 per ton. The assayer was F.E. Fielding. A very rich sample. 5.5 in. X 8 in. Ragged top right corner, several spiral binding holes. A rare document from the Comstock Lode.
