Two ten ounce .999 fine silver ingots from the Oregon Gold & Silver Company. Consecutively serial numbered 41384 and 41385.
These bars were made by john and Ernest Kelly. The pair made several different iterations of silver hallmarks, settling on this horizontal expanded diamond shape with the initials "OGS" in the middle (Oregon Gold-Silver). The bars were made probably in about 1980-1982 at the height of the silver boom, and the company was done by 1985 when the silver market crashed after the Hunt debacle. The brothers had originally hoped to compete with other regional silver bullion firms, but everybody got the big "heave-ho" when the market crashed in the later 1980s.
Delvin Campbell wrote a thorough article on these bars published in the International Association of Silver art Collectors, a copy included with the lot.
The bars are very rare today.
